In 1963, “Cast Your Fate to the Wind” earned Guaraldi a GRAMMY(R) for \u003cstrong\u003eBest Original Jazz Composition\u003c\/strong\u003e. Over the years, the track would be covered by a range of artists, including \u003cstrong\u003eQuincy Jones, George Benson, Allen Toussaint, the James Gang\u003c\/strong\u003e, and \u003cstrong\u003eMel Tormé\u003c\/strong\u003e (who added lyrics).\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp style=\"font-weight: 400;\"\u003ePerhaps most famously, however, the tune caught the ear of \u003cstrong\u003etelevision producer Lee Mendelson\u003c\/strong\u003e, who was searching for a musician to score a documentary about \u003cstrong\u003ePEANUTS® creator, Charles M. Schulz\u003c\/strong\u003e, and his popular comic strip. While the film was never released, Guaraldi recorded the soundtrack to \u003cem\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eA Charlie Brown Christmas\u003c\/strong\u003e \u003c\/em\u003ethe following year—creating one of the best-selling jazz and holiday albums of all time in the process. Before his sudden death in 1976, Guaraldi would score more than a dozen PEANUTS animated specials.
